Hi, I'm Etta

I write mysteries under Etta Faire and thrillers under E. L. Faire.

I decided to separate the genres because my thrillers sometimes contain explicit language and darker themes, and my cozies do not.

While I love every part of the crime genre — from humorous cozies to gritty true crime — I know not everyone’s like me, and I don’t want anyone picking up a book they won’t enjoy.

A little bit more about me:

I live in Southern California with my husband of 30+ years, our three kids, our ever-growing number of grandkids, and our three cats. I love salty and sweet snacks, coffee and plenty of it, and days when there’s absolutely nothing to do and no reason to put on anything but raggedy sweatpants and fluffy socks.

I started writing books in 2018 with Over My Dead Husband’s Body, and I’ve never looked back. It’s hard to believe that series has 13 books in it now.

It’s been such an amazing journey, but the best part has been connecting with readers and other authors along the way.

A Look Back At 2018

When I first started out, I had no idea what I was doing. That cover is homemade. (Can you tell?) And yes, I actually published it.

I also made the mistake of putting an f-bomb in my first cozy. Aww, I was so young then. Live and learn. (Don’t worry, I have since taken it out, lol.)

And that brings us to 2024, when I decided to branch out to domestic/psychological thrillers with my debut title in the genre, If I Disappear. It hooked me on writing thrillers, so expect a lot more.
